“The Trojan Story” cambió drásticamente la percepción de la música jamaicana entre el público británico antes de su lanzamiento en 1971, nunca se había intentado presentar una antología completa del desarrollo musical de la isla, con Ska ,Rocksteady y reggae ,en su momento eran considerados obsoletos y de muy poco mérito.

Trojan Story, se convirtió en un éxito instantáneo.

La idea  original fue del gerente del sello discográfico y fanático de la música negra, Rob Bell además de contar con la ayuda de  Dandy, Webster Shrowder y Joe Sinclair, se produjo posiblemente la obra jamaicana más importante en cuestión de retrospectivas musicales.

Ahora, 50 años después de su lanzamiento original, Bell, junto con el músico de reggae, Rusty Zinn, han revisado este álbum de gran influencia, quienes han logrado mejorar lo que ya era una colección casi perfecta.

Después de embarcarse en una carrera como cantante a principios de la década de 1960, Robert Thompson, alias Dandy, logró un éxito significativo en la escena musical británica con una serie de singles populares de ska y rocksteady.

En el verano de 1968, demostró ser decisivo en el lanzamiento de Trojan Records, que más tarde en el año le otorgó al incipiente cantante, compositor y productor su propia filial de Down Town para exhibir su trabajo. La fe de la compañía en los talentos creativos de Dandy fue rápidamente recompensada cuando les proporcionó dos de sus primeros grandes exitos: “Reggae In Your Jeggae” y la primera entrada oficial de la lista pop en el Reino Unido de parte del sello Trojan, “Red Red Wine” de Tony Tribe.

Poco después, se compiló y lanzó un LP del mismo título, con la colección que comprende el éxito, junto con otras 11 pistas producidas por Dandy, sacadas de sus singles más populares de Down Town hasta la fecha. El álbum siguió siendo un éxito de ventas para Trojan hasta 1970, cuando la compañía emitió el “Red Red Wine Volume 2”, compilado de manera similar, que al igual que su predecesor demostró ser muy popular entre los fanáticos del reggae del Reino Unido.

Mientras tanto, el espíritu de trabajo de Dandy se reflejó en el lanzamiento de una serie de otros singles de 7 “y otros dos titulos :” Blow Your Horn “, un set que muestra en gran medida los talentos del trombonista Rico Rodriquez y el principal acto de reggae británico, los Rudies & “Your Musical Doctor” a lo largo de la cual las voces de Dandy tomaron el centro del escenario.

Ahora, por fin, los cuatro de estos álbumes históricamente importantes se han reunido en este magnífico conjunto de dos discos, “Blow Your Horn” haciendo su debut en CD. ¡El resultado es una celebración oportuna del estilo original boss reggae defendido por los skinheads de primera generación hace medio siglo!
